Wow ! another brilliant day at the Beehouse. Having recorded last year for my birthday we came back today. I thought the first single we recorded last year might have been a fluke, but Jane and Phil helped us to create an even better song this time around now that they know the music we like. If you have ever fancied yourself as a recording artist but all you have is a few lyrics or just guitar riff in mind, you will be amazed at what they can do. Check out "Coming Home" and "Write Love" on Sound Cloud and see what we mean !

Steve had this as a fiftieth birthday present, and we all got roped-in.
Beware of getting lost - call Phil and he'll ferry you down the bumpy drive from the top.
Anyway, we recorded and mastered 4 tracks in just four hours - that's really good going.
Engineer/producer, Phil, made us all feel at home, and seemed to coax a good performance from everyone with no hassle. I have my own studio, so I know how great it is to work with a real pro like Phil.
What can I say - everybody is smiling, and we are all chuffed with how we sound.
Well worth the day out, but a bugger to find.

Our day at the Beehouse Studio was a fantastic experience for novice musicians. This was our first ever time in a recording studio and Paul and Jane were so brilliant. Really friendly people, expert musicians and of course lovely dogs!! We will definitely be back in the future.

Music Production Day
I have always been interested in music production and my friends bought me a production experience for birthday. It was a fantastic day and I have learnt so much. It has certainly whetted my appetite for production and I can see myself continuing it in my spare time. A big thank you to Bee House!

Recording Session for Christmas
My wife treated me to a recording session as a Christmas present, as at best a hobbyist guitar player I am amazed at the resulting CD produced by Phil. A friendly and encouraging atmosphere even persuaded me to add my own vocal to the track, on which I played a number of guitar parts when I assumed I would play just two. I would recomend the Beehouse to anyone.

Beehouse was a fantastic experiance, extreamly talented muscian and producer Phil helped me put sound to my drums and singing to turn two possible songs into songs which I am very pleased with the result, travelled all the way from Hampshire to Wales, seven odd hours in a car and I have not regretted it one bit.
Get a chance then go to Beehouse Recording people and you will be amazed and blown over, super doopy do.
Thank you all and best wishes Robin from ye old Hampshire.

I have had a most enjoyable and informative day with Phil whose knowledge on sound recording is amazing. It took just 5 hours to demonstrate his top quality studio setup and record a song I had written with piano, strings, vocals etc. Superb. He also advised me on starter equipment I should use for my own mini studio. Great guy -great setup. Thanks Charlie,Basingstoke

Had a great time, was well worth it. Got away with 6 track, and a very chilled out experience. The technology is so up to date, and Phil has so much knowledge, having told me all about his various festival work, recording experience ect. Was in very safe and very patient hands, and came out with a very good result. Thank you for putting up with me forgetting the words! :)

My lovely wife Julia gave me a voucher for 10 hours recording time at the Beehouse as a Christmas present. We came to the studio for a couple of days to record some family favourites before the first of our children departs for University. What a great time we all had! We recorded a mix of individual and ensemble pieces under Phil's calm and skillful direction. It is truly amazing what can be accomplished with the technology and sound engineering skills available. Many thanks to Jane and Phil for their hospitality and for making this a very enjoyable and rewarding time in the beauty of the Welsh hills.

Been to Beehouse Studio today had a really good time! this morning before coming i didn't think i'd enjoy it as much as I did but it was really good fun. I'm trained in opera but today I sang a range of opera which I had sang from my grade 8 exam and some modern pop and suprisingly I found singing pop really fun as well. All the staff were really friendly and on the whole I had a great experience!

We just wanted to write and thank-you for an absolutely amazing day. Not only did we get the satisfaction of turning a vague idea into a great song (in our opinion !) on the day, but we relive it every day as our kids love nothing better than singing "Write Love" at the top of their voices - as the neighbour complaints prove !!! Thanks again for a really enjoyable and educational day. We will certainly be back to do it all again. What I would pass on to prospective customers is...just go for it. We can't imagine you being disappointed at all with the end result. Trust the process and Phil and Jane's experience and talent and go with the flow !!!!!

We so enjoyed Charlie's company too, and hopefully we will keep our friendship going. ..........
I just want to send you a personal thank you Phil for all the time you spent on the day.

We have just had the most fantastic 4 hours here, singing our hearts out. One of the best presents I have ever been given to come and sing at a recording studio. As complete novices we were completely unsure as to how it would go. We were made to feel so welcome and within a few minutes we were settled in and raring to go. The outcome is great a CD with 5 tracks of us and we have been made to sound like superstars. The equipment and the expertise here is second to none and I would recommend it to anyone. Already thinking when can we come again. Thanks so much. Pippa and The Wahines

I had a such a great time at The Beehouse Studios. My brother booked out the studio for a day as part of my fantastic Stag Weekend and only told me about it THE NIGHT BEFORE we were due to go into the studio hahaha! So we had one (drunken) evening to write a song and then get it down in the studio the next day. I actually wrote the drum part on the fly, and wrote the lyrics in the car outside whilst my brother and the guys laid down the keys and guitar parts!
It was such a great experience, made all the more enjoyable and hassle free by the fantastic, professional team at The Beehouse. Phil really knew his way around the studio and we watched open mouthed as he corrected notes, tightened things up and mixed it all at a speed of knots!! The final product, although very silly (as it was intended) is really fantastic – I don’t think we’ll be climbing to the top of the charts with “Follow Through” but the quality of recording was certainly good enough for national radio play (I know that for a fact, as I played it on Kerrang! last Sunday!! Haha).
An all-round great experience and the music video element was the icing on top of the very tasty cake.

What a weekend - Phil guided us expertly through about three times more work than I really thought possible. Apart from anything else he worked out very quickly what we knew and didn't know, and what I can take back to work on in my own studio. He got some really outstanding vocals down very quickly, layering and double tracking expertly, and we also nailed some great drum tracks. I'd certainly recommend the Beehouse for newbies, hobby musicians or pros looking for a great day's recording experience or why not that all important first album? A blast...

I just wanted to say how much I enjoyed my Drumming Experience yesterday. Your technical (and musical) skills certainly polished up my attempts to keep the beat & it was great to get a behind-the-scenes view of a recording studio.
Thanks very much for putting up with me (us!) & please feel free to put this on your blog.
I'm working on adding another tune to my rather limited repertoire, so watch out - I may be back...

Great day at the Beehouse.
Arrived for my Christmas present recording experience braving the snow and welsh mountains!
Played three tunes; Rosanna by Tota, Roxanne by The Police and a Michael Buble number. Great fun.
Haven't heard the final mix down yet but they sounded great on the playback (with some very generous engineering helping things out!).
Probably more focused to people who have some experience in order to get the most out of it but well worth a visit.
Get down here and shed some sticks.....

I really enjoyed doing the song-writing experience. The atmosphere was really friendly and relaxed; I was nervous at first but soon felt welcomed.

A once in a lifetime experience that I will never forget. I learned so much about how a recording artist does their thing, although, I'm sure there's so much more to learn, and if I lived nearer, I'd be knocking on the door every day! Loved it! Phil's knowledge of recording vocals and music back ground was immense and so could help me with lines I wasn't so sure of. I felt like a proper recording artist for the day.

Day at the beehouse!
i arrived at the beehouse to be warmly welcomed with kind offers of something to drink, i sat and had a chat with the phil who was going to be working to be recording me that day. he was very friendly and we discussed what we would be doing during the day. i felt extremeyl anxious when i was just starting to sing but i soon warmed up and became less nervous about what i looked and sounded like. I was kindly corrected when i wasn't singing corectly and it allowed me to sing to my best ability. I found it incredibly interesting to watch the technology involved and embarassing yet fun to listen to my self back.

You may not find out very much about the elusive Molan Spectrum from their website. Still, some things are best left unsaid. Search the website for clues, if you're curious that way.....
To avoid falling under the hypnotic spell of the abysmal catastrophe,go direct to
the inner sanctum, and view their salacious offering, "Rock Off and Die" directly on your computer. A tale of spurned love and business deals with a very unlikely ending. Frustratingly addictive.
Or see it on Youtube at this link : Rock Off and Die.
The only pop video you'll see where the furniture also smoulders, in the deeply unsavoury setting of a transport cafe.
Rock Off and Die is an eclectic masterpiece featuring the oddly endearing vocals of Sir Dangerous Dave. Once infected, you'll need to hear those inspiring lyrics again and again to chant to your boss, unloved ones or just yourself on an off day. DeLorean fans and other anachronistic idolisers will appreciate the appearance of not one, but four of the legendary car icons, and their disappearance into broad daylight in a stream of fire.
Unfortunately, once heard, you won't be able to resist requesting this track to play to all your nearest and dearest at time of family crisis.
Look out for the sequel :
"Hit the Floor"
in which Dave exploits the Scandinavian clubbing market with a brilliant dance track which is bound to irritate - chafe even.

We’ve had a busy few months here at The Beehouse. To ensure we are providing the best possible music production The Beehouse Recording Studio has recently undergone a major revamp, reorientation and technical upgrade. We have been fortunate enough to acquire the main monitoring system from the now defunct Forge Studios in Oswestry. They are super high quality dynaudio M3A’s as used by The Prodigy. We have upgraded the soundcards to Mark of The Unicorn – MOTU 2408 mk 3 which now gives us full 96 ktz capability throughout the entire recording, mixing and mastering process. Our front end is a fully loaded Yamaha 02R96 mixing desk with up to 72 channels of digital and analogue inputs. Recording is still done using Cubase SX3 and Protools but is soon to be upgraded to Cubase 5.
To assist Phil in the Studio we have enlisted the help of music producer Tony Skeggs (renowned singer songwriter) to help us with the ever increasing number of Recording Studio Exper
iences. Tony not only comes to us with his wealth of expertise but brings his own inimitable style and sense of fun to proceedings.Over the past few months we have been very excited to have had Molan Spectrum in the Studio. An amazing new innovative musical collaboration consisting of several vocalists producing songs written by Molan songwriter Jan Mosiewicz and developed by Lane & Lane Music. On the brink of release is the new single ‘Rock off and Die’ by Molan Spectrum featuring Dangerous Dave on vocals. The video to accompany the release of the single is currently in production. The studio has been inundated with Recording Studio Experiences - vocalists, songwriters, drummers and bands from all over the country all of whom have been a joy to meet and work with. We have been amazed by some of the impressive talents we have come across, many of whom we have requested back to work on other projects with us.

A return visit to the studio, and an even more enjoyable experience. Had a fabulous day doing one of the things I enjoy doing most! Thanks. Craig, Birmingham.
We had a massive amount of fun last time we came and this was no different. I think Phil is one of the greatest dudes to work with: tactful and interesting and he was able to get some great sounds out of us. I hope we can come back again and do some more tracks, thank you so much. Amelia, Bewdley

I have had a great time here at Beehouse Studio. I was worried that I wouldn't be able to sing a note due to nerves but with Phil's encouragement I soon got through the first song without too much trouble at all. (and the brandy helped thanks ;-)
I am very pleased with the final 4 songs and I wish I could do it all over again tomorrow!

An excellent experience, I was absolutely fascinated with the whole event. Phil has truly mastered the art of recording and put it across brilliantly to one who is not that techy. With all the technology to work with I felt like I had died and gone to heaven. I would recommend the experience to any one who is interested in how music is recorded.

Well my girlfriend bought the days studio experience for my 21st birthday gift - and what a great and unique present!
Not only was the day really good fun and we left with a CD in hand, but it was really great to spend time with my friend practicing our tunes from our uni days prior to attending.
The equipment was good, the ideas invaluable, and the work ethic supurb! I would strongly advise this as a gift.
Thank you Rachel!!! :)

My daughter had a great experience recording Footprints In The Sand. Phil and his wife were very hospitable and made us feel very welcome.
Before long Isobel had recorded her song and we were both amazed at the skill Phil displayed.
We even had time for a fun mother and daughter blast at Mamma mia. We had a great time. Thank you very much. Would highly recommend.

I just had a very productive 2 days here, getting four songs done. I'm incredibly pleased with the results. My only regret is that I can't stay for longer and keep working! There is no lack of experience or creativity to be found here and I would recommend it to all.

A very warm welcome at the Beehouse. I had a brilliant experience, with plenty of time to perfect my CD. For my first recording experience I had a wonderful day and I will definitely do it again. Working with such an experienced producer made the day a learning experience as well as a chance to sing. I will be back soon!! Thank you!

....Phil Lane, the Beehouse Production Engineer, whom I only met last May and whose genius has most to do with this album. Whilst I wrote the words and original music, it is he who gave them life. Of course he is infuriating. He seems able to play any instrument he chooses and is predominantly self-taught. He intuitively knows what rhythm and instruments to go for and seems to have an almost encyclopaedic memory for sound and its origin. He has been a joy to work with, and his arrangements and production underline his amazing talent.

I had three sessions will Phil producing a song which i wrote. Within those 3 sessions I saw the song develop and was most encouraged with what was done. I am so happy with the result and I intend to put a album together with other songs which I have written. In all I had a great time and I have definitely come away encouraged to write more songs for the future.

Thanks Phil and Jane

Song Development at the Beehouse
Many thanks for a very productive & enjoyable day's recording. Clive and I have been songwriting together for a number of years. I think for songwriters who would like to develop their material and produce a strong and original recording, I would recommend working with Beehouse Studio. Not only is Phil a very experienced engineer, I particularly appreciated his intuitive and sensitive approach to the process of producing, creating a unique soundscape that brought out the individuality of the song and through careful and attentive guidance, bringing the best out of the performance. I would certainly want to come back to produce and record further material.

A wonderful sixteenth birthday present! Me and my sister recorded a viola/piano composition as well as singing Alanis Morrissette's "Ironic". Both turned out very well with the help of Phil and we even had time at the end for my dad to spontaneously record an interesting version of "Sealed with a Kiss".

Sorry to have been quiet for so long. The good news is that the beehouse has just re-vamped its recording studio site "Coolstars" for the new season, and we'd like you all to rush over there and let us know what you think. This site has been a long time coming, but e hope it's worth the wait, and that any minor glitches are ironed out straight away.
To complement our new site the Beehouse has developed our studio facility and redecorated the interior in line with our professional style experiences. the vocal and recording booth now has beautiful new decor, including a mirror wall, mood lighting and a new entrance from the rear to give easy access to the WC.
This new development also gives a private waiting area for guests, as well as the studio lounge, which they are free to use is they wish. We hope the new facilities will be appreciated by all our customers - they have been projected for many moons! Photos of the new control room and recording area will be posted to the blog and the website over the next week.

Acoustic three piece records at Beehouse

The Beehouse has been fortunate over the weekend to welcome a very talented trio of musicians hailing from Ellesmere. Ian, Ian and Lynne come as an acoustic line-up of double bass, guitar, piano and vocals, and laid down two excellent original versions of "Cry Me a River", written by Arthur Hamilton, and made famous by Julie London, and Leonard Cohen's "Hallelujah", with beautifully resonant vocals by Lynne, and superb instrumentals by the two Ians.
The trio are seen in this picture - great to have a real acoustic bass in the studio!
Comments were:
"What a great day- really enjoyed it. Thanks for fitting us in on a Sunday! I'm inspired!! Great day!"
"Excellent experience, will be back in some format!"
We hope so!

Recording of "The Penfriend" Audio Newsletter Today marks the beginning of the project. We are recording the second installment of the RPMI newsletter "the Penfriend" - this is a newsletter going out to blind and partially sighted Railways Pensions members and will take the form of an audio CD, to keep them in touch with events and facts which may be of interest.
The CD is recorded by the spoken voices of Sharon Calder, professional actress and voiceover artist, who is resident in Powys, in the Llanfyllin area, and Tony Skeggs, singer, musician and entertainer who lives in Llanfyllin. The CD recording is co-ordinated and produced by Philip Lane, who also carries out the editing.
Music for the audio CD is a musical theme track called "Storytime", which was composed and recorded by Jane Lane, also from the Beehouse.
Duplication of the final product is by Mantra CDs and Recording, which also operates from this location.
The Beehouse is in the fortunate position of being able to direct, record, produce, master and edit virtually any type of recording, as well as providing original incidental music and artwork when required. We can also market your products on the web, being fortunate in having a full-time music specialist web designer on the team.
If you would like any more information about Beehouse products, please don't hesitate to get in touch by emailing us at this link. Or visit the recording studio website for more information.

The Beehouse today provided the musical backdrop for the Powys County Times "Win a Wedding" competition at the Royal Oak in Welshpool. Under its trading name "MantraSound", the Beehouse promoted wedding discos, corporate discos, PA hire facilities and recording Studio Experiences. The results of the competition will be listed by the County Times at this link .
MantraSound will provide a free five hour disco for the winners.
The Beehouse is currently offering a three hour hen party recording studio experience at £199.75. The hen party recording session is lots of fun and results in a lovely personal souvenir CD of a great day.

Songwriting Experiences...Inspiration

Our Songwriting Experience at the Beehouse brings together a wide variety of customers. Here are some typical customer approaches (although nothing is typical!)
A. This 35 year old lady songwriter could sing, but played no musical instruments. For the past fifteen years she had been singing tunes into a cassette player and keeping the lyrics. Although a shy performer, when we listened to her cassette recording we realised straight away that she was a very unusual talent - all the recording were in tune, although they had been sung without accompaniment, and it was possible to play an accompaniment directly to the recordings. This made our job wonderfully straightforward - with a few edits we were able to develop her initial idea into a fully fledged song with her own beautifully accurate vocals and overlaid vocals, and a simple piano, bass drums type backing.
B. Another songwriter, a man in his thirties, had only a few sketchy lyrics, a good singing voice, and a clear idea of what he wanted his songs to express. Working again from piano, we elicited some tunes from him and harmonised them, later adding an instrumental middle eight section, and again bringing the song to life, with soft piano sounds and cello backing.
C. A third young woman arrived with a very calm personality, saying she would like to sing a grunge track and make it angry.... Our studio engineer sat with her and played electric guitar riffs for half an hour until she picked up on a tune, lyrics...and a very angry song was born...!
D. This songwriter was a gentleman in his late sixties who wanted to record a disco track. he had had the lyrics in his head for many years, and wrote them down for us. As he did not have a strong singing voice, we brought in a session singer to put down the final version, and he left with a fully produced song cut to CD.
Customers sometimes ask us about the rights on the songs we help them to produce during a songwriter experience. It's very simple. When the songs are produced in the studio, they are effectively copyrighted at the time of production. Whichever parts are written by the artist belong to them and whichever are added by the studio would belong to us. If you should subsequently go on and release your track, the studio would usually have a 50% claim to royalties if it had been involved in developing harmonies, tunes, or lyrics.
As you can see from our range of customers, this is one of our favourite types of recording studio experience at the Beehouse, as it takes us through the whole range of diverse genres and keeps us developing new techniques for song production with our creative clientele. We hope to be shortly setting up a site where new songs can be showcased, and will be adding this in as a feature of our experiences during the coming year. Keep 'em coming!

Music recording experiences at the Beehouse are available to seasoned performers and novices alike. We take the basic recording studio experience and let you mould it to your particular musical needs. For example, we offer a bass guitar experience where you can record bass and guitar lines to your favourite tracks, or in fact record your own music, with the bass being played in by you, and the remainder being performed by studio staff or yourself - or in fact your guests. You may put in your own vocals during your experience if you wish, or we may arrange for a singer to add vocals where required - all culminating in a unique and commercial quality CD. Piano experiences are often dictated by the very clear production ideas of pianists and keyboard players. You may play piano unaccompanied, or add in other instrumentation in. Piano experience days are some of our most creative ventures...! The Beehouse has also offered a French horn experience coupled with a vocals experience to create some Elton John covers, to give you an idea of the scope of what we can do.
If you know someone who's musical and would appreciate a chance to make a record of some of their skills, or extend their experience of their instrument in a lovely informal setting, the our voucher for three or five hours makes a superb Christmas , birthday, anniversary or graduation gift. We are based in a beautiful and unique location on the Wales Shropshire border not far from Welshpool. Check out our websites at the following links:
